Oh well, what's a little rain, right? Well that little rain is actually big news for Doodie Fresh. That's right...BIG NEWS! If you haven't had a chance, please check out the Redondo Beach Patch and the little news piece by Diane Garrett, the Patch's well renowned editor entitled "Are You Sure Your Sprinklers Are Off?". Doodie Fresh is prominently displayed in this little piece for all to see. So what's next you ask...the phones to ring off the hook, of course. We're so optimistic here, as you can probably tell. With everyone's help, we can do our part to "Heal the Bay" and keep our yards clean and fresh.
Red warning flags at area beaches after a rainfall sure dampen any beachgoers day. But if the general public were more cognizant of their actions such as fixing a leak in their car before it drips on the ground, properly disposing of their trash, or cleaning up yard and pet waste before it has a chance to get swept away in the neighborhood storm drains, then maybe the warning level could be reduced or eliminated altogether.
Lisa Chin and her staff at Doodie Fresh strives to do their share in “Healing the Bay”. If you’re too tired, hate doing this chore, or simply unable to clean up your dog’s waste, try out our service for free. Yes, you heard right…for FREE. We’ll help you scoop up the dog waste from your yard before the next heavy rains arrive. Together, we can do our share to “Heal the Bay”. Interfaith Blessing of the Animals, Oct. 2

I just wanted to throw it out there that someone decided it was acceptable to do a hit and run on my car when I had it parked in front of Ralph's on Saturday. Is it just the sign of the times or do people just don't care anymore. Whatever happened to being courteous and honest and leaving a note on the car. Did the offender know or care that this is an illegal act and that the law requires you to leave a note if nobody is around.
It's scary to think this is where our society is headed. What do the rest of you think? I would love to hear your thoughts. My staff and I will be donating a free dog waste cleanup service to the 1st 10 owners who adopt a pet at any South Bay animal shelter during the month of August. We feel this is a great way to give back to the community and make the transition to pet ownership that much easier. Please help us spread the word on our offer and let's get every sheltered pet a new home.
Kids and I visited Del Cerro Park today and strolled along the dirt path to get an ocean view. Along the way, we saw a few people practicing their fly fishing techniques and others just enjoying the view. When we arrived at the lone bench with the ocean view, we brought out our snacks and enjoyed some nice Cheese curls and juice. After we finished, I grabbed the empty bag and proceeded to dump it in the trash can. And if I wasn't careful, I would have stepped in it. That's right, an orphaned poop sitting about 2-3 feet from the trash container. Lesson to learn. Although everything may be pleasant, always keep an eye open.
There’s going to be another pet adoption at Hesse Park on August 14 from 10am – 3pm. It’s sure to be a fun event. You get to pet them, walk them, and take one or two home if you like. So get there early, join in the fun, and take home a future family member. Hope you all can make it.
It appears that the proposed dog park on the former Palos Verdes Peninsula landfill in Rolling Hills Estates has been placed on the backburner. The Department of Recreation and Parks has initiated a pilot dog project for a park in La Crescenta that is scheduled to open in June of 2011. A whole year away! Apparently the department wishes to evaluate this pilot park first before considering additional parks. Go figure. I’m not sure, but isn’t Griffith Park Dog Park, Barrington Dog Park, Laurel Canyon Dog Park, Silverlake Dog Park all located in Los Angeles. Why not just look up their reviews?
Also, the soonest they would even consider a dog park on the Palos Verdes landfill would be June 2012, a whole two years away. Not to mention some land safety concerns at the landfill that could delay things even further, as shared by Mike Gin, field deputy to Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe. How do you all feel about this wait and evaluate process when there are already existing dog parks that are under control of the Department of Recreation and Parks. |
