It appears that the proposed dog park on the former Palos Verdes Peninsula landfill in Rolling Hills Estates has been placed on the backburner. The Department of Recreation and Parks has initiated a pilot dog project for a park in La Crescenta that is scheduled to open in June of 2011. A whole year away! Apparently the department wishes to evaluate this pilot park first before considering additional parks. Go figure. I’m not sure, but isn’t Griffith Park Dog Park, Barrington Dog Park, Laurel Canyon Dog Park, Silverlake Dog Park all located in Los Angeles. Why not just look up their reviews?
Also, the soonest they would even consider a dog park on the Palos Verdes landfill would be June 2012, a whole two years away. Not to mention some land safety concerns at the landfill that could delay things even further, as shared by Mike Gin, field deputy to Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe. How do you all feel about this wait and evaluate process when there are already existing dog parks that are under control of the Department of Recreation and Parks.

It's sad to see a dog park get put on hold. Dog parks are such a great place to spend time with them. The sheer amount of dog exercise equipment today is amazing; I think dogs have more options for dog obstacle courses than kids do for playgrounds now :P
